How to read this list
Every row here comes from a Form 4, the filing a company officer, director or 10% owner must submit within two business days of trading their own company's stock. Ranking by dollar value and by insider count answers two different questions: the first finds the single large conviction buy, the second finds the case where several people who know the business independently reached the same conclusion in the same month.
Total buys count open-market purchases only. Option exercises, grants and tax withholding are excluded, because those are compensation mechanics rather than a decision to put money in. A company can therefore show heavy Form 4 traffic and still report no buying at all.
Companies are included on a 30-day window, so a quiet name is not necessarily an inactive one. Insiders are barred from trading in the blackout period around earnings, which means activity across an entire sector can fall away for reasons that have nothing to do with what those insiders think their shares are worth.
